Some lawmakers still unswayed by case for Syria strike

Los Angeles Times - ‎28 minutes ago‎

Dear Friends,
Scripture says that to be great "we must be the least and servant of all". For
centuries this worked in America. Are people finally tired of being left out of the

Well, we sure knew he wasn't a Christian!

We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the
anti-church, between the Gospel and the anti-gospel, between Christ and
the anti-christ.  This confrontation lies within the  plans of Divine
Providence.  It is, therefore, in God's plan and it must be a trial which
the Church must take up and face courageously."  Blessed Pope John Paul

HOW TO STAY SAFE IN THE WORLD

1. Avoid riding in automobiles because they are
responsible for 20% of all fatal accidents.
2. Do not stay home because 17% of all accidents
occur in the home.
3. Avoid walking on streets or sidewalks because
14% of all accidents occur to pedestrians.
4. Avoid traveling by air, rail, or water because
16% of all accidents involve these forms of
transportation.
5. Of the remaining 33%, 32% of all deaths occur
in hospitals.  So, ... above all else, avoid
hospitals.
But, .... You will be pleased to learn that only
.001% of all deaths occur in worship services in
church,
and these are usually related to previous physical
disorders.
Therefore, logic tells us that the safest place
for you to be at any given point in time is at
church!
....And....Bible study is safe too. The percentage
of deaths during Bible study is even less.
So, sttend church, and read your Bible.......  IT

Calling All Prayer Warriors!

Hope

In this hour of the plight of the nation, we should not ignore the hand of God, which has worked miracles of deliverance
when God’s people have understood that the problem is sin, repented of their sin and turned to God. The tragedy is
that we have so few statesmen who understand what is actually happening in our world.

Let us stand together in prayer, making possible a release of divine power in this nation. The call to each of us who
loves Christ is to pray for His intervening mercies.

Mere eloquence in prayer is without value. Moses stammered, but his prayer was answered. Hannah muttered words
that men misunderstood, but she triumphed in her intercession. Her problem was physical barrenness; our problem
today is that we are spiritually barren.

Oh, that Christians would cry with passion for the lost and unconverted, that they might be born from above. Oh, that
the thousands of pastors might be heartbroken about the barrenness of their people.

Spiritual revival comes as a result of the broken and contrite church, bowed in supplication and intercession, distressed
at the sight of perishing millions. They may wait for days, weeks and even months until the Spirit of God moves upon
and through them, until Heaven opens in revival blessing and a nation is stirred and blessed and even saved. In our
barrenness today, let us call upon God and believe He will give us fruit in this hour of world crisis.

Prayer
Dear Lord, move in us, Your people, so that we are broken and contrite before you because of the darkness that surrounds us in the nation and the world. We know and declare that You are the only answer, the lone antidote to the disease of evil sin. May we fix our eyes on You, not wavering in our faith, but trusting in You with full confidence to bring the revival we so desperately need. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

New High School Principal

We watched high school principal Dennis Prager of Colorado, along with Tom Brokaw on TV a while ago....what a dynamic, down

to earth speaker. Even though Brokaw was also a guest speaker he did little but nod and agree with him. This is the guy that

should be running for President in 2016!

A Speech Every American High School Principal Should Give.

 By Dennis Prager.

To the students and faculty of our high school:

I am your new principal, and honored to be so.

There is no greater calling than to teach young people.

I would like to apprise you of some important changes coming to our school. I am making these changes because I am convinced

that most of the ideas that have dominated public education in America have worked against you, against your teachers and

against our country.

First , this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity.

I could not care less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow or white. I could not care less if your origins are African,

Latin American, Asian or European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave ships. The only identity I

care about, the only one this school will recognize, is your individual identity -- your character, your scholarship, your humanity.

And the only national identity this school will care about is American.

This is an American public school, and American public schools were created to make better Americans. If you wish to affirm an

ethnic, racial or religious identity through school, you will have to go elsewhere. We will end all ethnicity, race and non-American

nationality-based celebrations. They undermine the motto of America, one of its three central values – e pluribus Unum,

"from many, one." And this school will be guided by America 's values. This includes all after-school clubs. I will not authorize

clubs that divide students based on any identities. This includes race, language, religion, sexual orientation or whatever else

may become in vogue in a society divided by political correctness.

Your clubs will be based on interests and passions, not blood, ethnic, racial or other physically defined ties. Those clubs just

cultivate narcissism -- an unhealthy preoccupation with the self -- while the purpose of education is to get you to think

beyond yourself. So we will have clubs that transport you to the wonders and glories of art, music, astronomy, languages

you do not already speak, carpentry and more. If the only extracurricular activities you can imagine being interested in are

those based on ethnic, racial or sexual identity, that means that little outside of yourself really interests you.

Second, I am uninterested in whether English is your native language. My only interest in terms of language is that you

leave this school speaking and writing English as fluently as possible. The English language has united America 's citizens

for over 200 years, and it will unite us at this school. It is one of the indispensable reasons this country of immigrants has

always come to be one country. And if you leave this school without excellent English language skills, I would be remiss in

my duty to ensure that you will be prepared to successfully compete in the American job market. We will learn other

languages here -- it is deplorable that most Americans only speak English -- but if you want classes taught in your native

language rather than in English, this is not your school.

Third , because I regard learning as a sacred endeavor, everything in this school will reflect learning's elevated status.

This means, among other things, that you and your teachers will dress accordingly. Many people in our society dress

more formally for Hollywood events than for church or school. These people have their priorities backward. Therefore,

there will be a formal dress code at this school.

Fourth, no obscene language will be tolerated anywhere on this school's property -- whether in class, in the hallways or

at athletic events. If you can't speak without using the f -word, you can't speak. By obscene language I mean the words

banned by the Federal Communications Commission, plus epithets such as "Nigger," even when used by one black student

to address another black, or "bitch," even when addressed by a girl to a girlfriend. It is my intent that by the time you leave

this school, you will be among the few your age to instinctively distinguish between the elevated and the degraded, the holy

and the obscene.

Fifth, we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school, self-esteem will be attained in only one way -- the way people

attained it until decided otherwise a generation ago -- by earning it. One immediate consequence is that there will be one

valedictorian, not eight.

Sixth, and last, I am reorienting the school toward academics and away from politics and propaganda. No more time will

be devoted to scaring you about smoking and caffeine, or terrifying you about sexual harassment or global warming. No

more semesters will be devoted to condom wearing and teaching you to regard sexual relations as only or primarily a

health issue. There will be no more attempts to convince you that you are a victim because you are not white, or not

male, or not heterosexual or not Christian. We will have failed if any one of you graduates this school and does not consider

him or herself inordinately fortunate -- to be alive and to be an American.

Now, please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our country. As many of you do not know the words, your teachers will hand them out to you.

Subject: Re: Using Your Mouth With Grace

Hi Pastor Bob,

Awesome and timely message in the newsletter today!

FYI - Dennis Prager is a radio talk show host.  He presented the concept of a commencement speech
that he thought should given in 2010.  It's not an actual speech that was given by a high school principle.
  Dennis has the right idea!

God bless,

What Happens When You Choose Joy
James MacDonald - Senior Pastor - Harvest Bible Chapel
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
—James 1:2-4

Think about the statement made by James, the half-brother of Jesus:“For you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” Did you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness? James is saying that his readers had been taught the concept of growth through difficulty. But did they really grasp it—and do we?

The principle James is applying isn’t automatic or intuitive. Like the first century followers of Jesus, we have to be taught that hardships are what God uses to develop our endurance. Unless we’ve been told how God works, our response to “trials of various kinds” is likely to be anything but “joy.”

So if James’ readers already knew what he was telling them, why did he feel the need to say it again? First, because he realized, like any good teacher, that knowing and doing are two separate steps. Knowing what God can do with trials isn’t the same thing as doing life with that knowledge. Second, he was reminding them of their privilege to respond to God’s work through testing by choosing joy.

We all know there are other choices before us when hard times come. We can get angry with God for His role in allowing the trial. We can get discouraged because we were expecting an easier life with Christ. We can even develop a persistent bad attitude in a trial that doesn’t allow others to see our hope in Him in the middle of what God is doing.

Joy is a much better choice! Not joy for the “trials of various kinds,”but joy over what those trials will accomplish in deepening our faith. Every choice above is a certain kind of “endurance,” but endurance without joy is not a pretty sight. Choosing to be angry, discouraged, and to push others away isn’t the kind of endurance God wants to develop in us.

Rather, He calls us to "press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:14). He longs for us to persevere—joyfully!

The way we might say that today is, keep on. Instead of giving up, our objective is to keep on! Keeping on means doing the things you have committed to doing, whether you feel like it or not—don't give up. The biblical words for keeping on are endurance, perseverance, andsteadfastness. Nothing is more essential to success in the Christian life than to keep at it and keep your eyes on the goal of God's glory. This is a character trait you have to develop. Faith gets you started; joyful steadfastness keeps you going.

Fortunately, God is even more interested in growing your endurance than you are! Almost everything He allows in your life has the purpose of developing perseverance. That’s why, as James 1:3 says, God tests your faith. Not so your faith will fail, but to produce in you a joyful by-product called steadfastness, "that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."

Keystone Yes — Syria No

Keystone Yes, Syria No

Few things illustrate why the Obama Administration is in increasing trouble more than the contrast between its hostility toward the Keystone XL Pipeline and its drift toward an ineffective and probably self-defeating attack on Syria.

Watching all the evolving crises in the Middle East, Americans understand why a strategy of American energy independence would make sense. It would create American jobs in a weak economy. It would grow government revenues without raising taxes. And it would increase American independence from the violent mess that is the Middle East.

The Keystone XL Pipeline would both drive down the cost of oil and gas and guarantee that Canadian energy flows to the United States instead of to China. In fact, getting the pipeline approved is one of the top foreign policy goals of the Canadian government, one of our most consistent allies.

Despite overwhelming support from the American people, 62 votes for the pipeline in the Senate, and the appeals of the Canadian government, the Obama Administration has bowed to pressure from environmental extremists who oppose the project, including one billionaire who has promised a massive anti-Obama campaign if the pipeline is approved.

The result looks like it will be one more delay of the five-year-old proposal. Kicking the Keystone decision into next year is a risk-avoidance strategy by an intimidated administration. Like all of the previous postponements, it will satisfy neither side and accomplish nothing.

The Syrian decision promises to be even more destructive than the Keystone indecision.

The Obama Administration has already announced that any bombing campaign in retaliation for the alleged use by the Syrian regime of chemical weapons will be short and limited. The Obama team has already promised that the campaign would not try to overthrow the Assad dictatorship.

A limited "symbolic" attack against a hardened dictatorship is an absurdity.

The Assad government has an endurance strategy of outlasting its enemies. It is backed by Russia and Iran. They will replace anything the Americans destroy.

Russia is deeply opposed to an American bombing campaign. This will further widen the gap between the two countries.

When the Syrian attacks are over, the American military will have spent a billion dollars or more, including hundreds of millions on munitions alone. That is money the Pentagon does not have given the budget crunch. Exactly how would President Obama propose to replace the weapons he would use so pointlessly?

The Congress should pass a law allowing the Keystone pipeline and blocking any attack on Syria. That would be a major step toward putting America back on a rational, reasonable strategic direction.

Newt

Dear Friend,

In the New Testament book of Romans, the apostle Paul writes these personally challenging words: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Romans 10:13-14).

This newsletter tells of my own journey in breaking the all-too-common barrier of fear in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. To this day I rejoice in how merciful God has been in my plodding efforts to get up and make a difference for the kingdom of God and the souls of spiritually lost people.

You and I live in a time when we must speak for God. Our journeys may vary but the end result will always be the same. Jesus promises power to be a witness of His death and resurrection—not only power, but also passion and courage that can come only from the indwelling presence of God.

May these few pages give you the courage to rise up and lay hold of the fullness which the Holy Spirit has reserved for you. The future and eternity of more people than we know depends on it.

Yours, in Christ,

Pastor Carter Conlon
Staying Silent in a Perilous Time

In the days when I was a police officer in Canada, the laws of that country stated that it was a crime to do something that would cause harm to another person, but neglecting to do something that resulted in another person’s harm was equally as criminal. Take a moment to think about that in light of the numbers of people in our generation who are about to perish without God. So many are living under the illusion that mankind can pursue his own objectives, follow his own reasoning, and still manage to arrive at some utopian end. Yet, in reality, the end that awaits those who choose to live without God is one of such terror that our minds cannot even begin to comprehend it.

You and I are aware of the reality of heaven and hell, and we also know that in between the two stands a Savior. We know the truth because the truth has set us free. The truth has made us into new creations and continues to usher us into greater measures of strength and freedom every day as we sincerely follow Christ. We do not hold to a mere concept about God, we have the living reality of God inside of us. And so the question arises: Why is it that we, knowing the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, so often remain silent?
