God or Religion?
IT IS TIME TO CIRCLE THE WAGONS FOR THOSE WHO LOVE THE LORD!
Sadly, Gods traditions have been replaced by man's in today's world. Can we rebuild our Churches or start a fresh one? First we must understand what His Word says about this.

Definitions

Before we start we must agree on some definitions and the source of our definitions. I will use the Word of God, I hope you agree.

What is a Church?

For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I Am in the midst of them. Matthew 18:20

A Church is a family of (usually baptized) believers, gathered together to serve, worship and proclaim Jesus. It is called the Body of Christ or the Bride of Christ.  (Acts 2:41, Rm.12:5, Eph. 1:21, 4:12, Col 1:24)

Who is the Head of The Church?

He also is the Head of [His] body, the church; seeing He is the Beginning, the Firstborn from among the dead, so that He alone in everything and in every respect might occupy the chief place [stand first and be preeminent]. Colossians 1:18

Jesus is the head of the church.

What are the Offices of the Church?

And when they had appointed and ordained elders for them in each church with prayer and fasting, they committed them to the Lord in Whom they had come to believe [being full of joyful trust that He is the Christ, the Messiah]. Acts 14:23

• Elders are the prime and first appointed officers of the local Church.

In like manner the deacons [must be] worthy of respect, not shifty and double-talkers but sincere in what they say, not given to much wine, not greedy for base gain [craving wealth and resorting to ignoble and dishonest methods of getting it]. 1 Timothy 3:8

• Deacons are the next and assisting officers of the local Church

What are The Duties of These Offices?

Therefore select out from among yourselves, brethren, seven men of good and attested character and repute, full of the [Holy] Spirit and wisdom, whom we may assign to look after this business and duty. But we will continue to devote ourselves steadfastly to prayer and the ministry of the Word. Acts 6:3-4

• The Elders are responsible for the running of the Church. Specifically ministering in prayer and the Word.

• The Deacons handle all other things as their assistants.

Are all the Elders preachers?

Let the elders who perform the duties of their office well be considered doubly worthy of honor [and of adequate financial support], especially those who labor faithfully in preaching and teaching. 1 Timothy 5:17

• The Elders who run or oversee the local Church do many things in prayer and the Word.  But those who teach and preach are to be paid.

What Are Their Qualifications?

The saying is true and irrefutable: If any man [eagerly] seeks the office of bishop (superintendent, overseer), he desires an excellent task (work). Now a bishop (superintendent, overseer) must give no grounds for accusation but must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, circumspect and temperate and self-controlled; [he must be] sensible and well behaved and dignified and lead an orderly (disciplined) life; [he must be] hospitable [showing love for and being a friend to the believers, especially strangers or foreigners, and be] a capable and qualified teacher,  Not given to wine, not combative but gentle and considerate, not quarrelsome but forbearing and peaceable, and not a lover of money [insatiable for wealth and ready to obtain it by questionable means]. He must rule his own household well, keeping his children under control, with true dignity, commanding their respect in every way and keeping them respectful. For if a man does not know how to rule his own household, how is he to take care of the church of God?  He must not be a new convert, or he may [develop a beclouded and stupid state of mind] as the result of pride [be blinded by conceit, and] fall into the condemnation that the devil [once] did. Furthermore, he must have a good reputation and be well thought of by those outside [the church], lest he become involved in slander and incur reproach and fall into the devil’s trap. 1 Timothy 3:1-16

In like manner the deacons [must be] worthy of respect, not shifty and double-talkers but sincere in what they say, not given to much wine, not greedy for base gain [craving wealth and resorting to ignoble and dishonest methods of getting it].They must possess the mystic secret of the faith [Christian truth as hidden from ungodly men] with a clear conscience. And let them also be tried and investigated and proved first; then, if they turn out to be above reproach, let them serve [as deacons]. [The] women likewise must be worthy of respect and serious, not gossipers, but temperate and self-controlled, [thoroughly] trustworthy in all things. Let deacons be the husbands of but one wife, and let them manage [their] children and their own households well. For those who perform well as deacons acquire a good standing for themselves and also gain much confidence and freedom and boldness in the faith which is [founded on and centers] in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 3:8-13

But What If We Cannot Find People Who Are Qualified?

But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me! 2 Corinthians 12:9

• Pray to God, Ask for forgiveness and do the best that you can. God knows the times that we are living in and His grace can be sufficient when there is no other way.
