And Jesus replied to him, " 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'

and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul (life), and with all your mind (thought, understanding), and with all your strength.'

And he replied, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."

* 9/7 Controllers vs. Jesus

Dear Min. Bob,

"Perfectionists", "controllers" .... you've heard the terms.
They like to control everything around them, including people. It gives them security. Unfortunately, as we grow in Christ there is really no place for these tendencies.

God says "all have sinned" and therefore perfection, except for Christ, does not exist on this earth, particularly from a human origin.

Then, if you look at the fundamental Scriptures telling us what the foundation of Christianity is, it has this little BUT effective word "all". You shall love God with "all". If you do, there is absolutely no room for anything that you control because you have given it "all" to God to do.

Some psychologists say that we all try to control others. If that is true, and I am not saying it is, (After all look what they have done for us recently in redefining some things like sexual orientation)  I am observing that the only controlling example Christ may have given, in that redefinition, is he was a 'great teacher'.

So if we want to control someone, so to speak, as a
Christian, our only obligation, is to teach them. Maybe even as unoffensive as by asking a question like "Did you know that ...?" Not by manipulation. Not by intimidation. Not by having a tantrum or other similar act. By teaching them. Period.

Anything less, is NOT loving God with "all' and giving "all" to Him. In other words you would be showing that you are short on faith.

Let us strive to be good teachers and healers bringing life and life everlasting to people. Can I hear an 'Amen!"?

There is no testimony without a test. I'm still waiting for the definition of "a little while" so far mine has lasted and lasted and lasted....

By the way, William leaves next Monday. I'm sure he'd appreciate encouragement from you. He has a great respect and affection for you.

Hi Bob - I think the greatest thing about heaven is no temptation and no sin!! As Peter would say, no more fighting the Adam in me. Only Jesus remains!

Amen Bob. As the Lord reveals to His children that this life is short and temporary like a vapor, and our eternal home will be glorious, far better than we can imagine, it is then by His grace that we can live on this earth with true gratitude, peace and a desire to glorify our Lord in our words and actions.
In Christ
