Dear Michael,
Since sin began in the Garden of Eden, the devil has had staying power. Scripture tells us that evil will rise up to a great battle toward the end of the Christian Age.
And certainly, just accepting the news items each day, the rise of sin is obvious to the wary.
BUT God wishes all mankind would steer away from sin and toward Him. He has given an easy way out, more prominent in this Christmas season, accepting Jesus as your Savior and standard.

Dear Jesus,
We pray for the strength of all in this increasingly evil world. We pray for the presentation of Jesus to others when we see evil, to contrast it for them to come to repentance.

Please keep Brother Steve’s Sister in prayer during your daily time with Him. Amy has final stage brain cancer. She's been in a nursing home for some time and not doing well. They may move her to a hospice facility residence soon.
Also, please keep Brad in prayer. Brad works with Brian Staub and was electricuated while on the job site. He is now in a coma.

While there are people called to be evangelists, all people are told to tell it to the nations at Mt.28:19. So here, in today's Scripture is a good example from John.
#1. (and this is sooo easy) Show that the world has a problem and that problem is sin. Ask if they are a part of it.
#2. Ask if they would like a solution?
#3. Ask them to change from problem to solution. Repent, Believe in Jesus, then act like it.

Today is a faith and growth check. Hebrews is explaining how Christ's sacrifice was changing the routine sacrifices to a once and for all sacrifice. In the middle of this, God explains we have been made holy. I add, let's act it.
Since we have been made holy by Christ's sacrifice for us, and we have accepted it, let us act like holy people. Included in this is having the power to stand on our own two feet and act like conquerors with our confidence being in God.
As such we are not afraid to tell people about Jesus. To act like a higher morality drives us. Can we do it?

Here is a Christian News headline last week: "Ministers' Claim Sex Before Marriage, Hookups 'Not Sinful,' Say Chastity Is 'Outdated and Silly' Expectation" Firstly this should shock you, secondly it should remind you of what time this is.
All of these Scriptures deal with ending times and the warnings provided ahead of them coming. One prominent one in the rising of more false prophets than has been. Take a minute to look at the other signs contained in these Scriptures. May it give us urgency to 'tow the mark' AND to tell others.

Dear Erasto,
While Malachi was predicting the Christ who was to come, many Ministers, Pastors etc. are hung on crosses in a similar way today. While they are fired, turned out to pasture, or must quit, it is the same. Some people cannot stand truth.
God put me in a church, a healing and loving church where I am not a pastor, but there, sadly are several others along side me, who also were hurt by alleged Christians. This should not be.
We need to listen to the message as if it is from God and examine the righteousness of it. Even if the pastor or minister errs, treat him like YOU would want to be treated. Heal and forgive, or really you are NOT a Christian.

In America, we are celebrating the passing of a great man, who also served the office of president at one time. The question remains in me, will Paula White (the current Spiritual Advisor to the president) tell him how this example IS Christian, and will you also 'get it'.
Gone in our society, and maybe yours, is the honoring of humble, honest people. The press today exploits just the opposite instead of realizing this is also for them to do and be an example of.
Of course then, America would have to look at the test of a man full of faith in it's selection process. But humble men were passed over in the primaries and kicked aside. The society seems to like 'red meat' and then they complain. The Mike Huckabee's and Ben Carson's were quickly set into the low support groups. Yes, a reflection of a society.
We were told, here, that Donald Trump was a converted Christian by Paula White who preaches a health and wealth gospel. Well that is fine, but Donald Trump needs to speak as George Hebert Walker Bush did. Will she explain the words of Christ in this area to him?
I pray so. And I pray that this passing of a man of good example will cause each of us to reflect on ours.

Dear Michael,
Christian businessmen should be the most successful of all. That is, IF they have been taught and practice right. But the same principle goes for Churches, marriages and yes, every one and everything. It's amazing how right God is!
God knew what we needed, a savior. In that case we are the customer. As humans or people in business, we should be focused on finding what our "customers" need.
In faith, likewise. Unfortunately, many leaders get puffed up with the success that God has allowed them and start to follow words of their own making instead of God's who knows our needs.
We reviewed the other day how the Archbishop of Canterbury wants to change gender terms about God to gender neutral, despite the fact that Jesus called God "Father". The Catholic faith is no different. The Pope wants to have Catholics believe that it is government responsibility for giving correctly instead of God's Word where it is targeted not to governments, but to individuals. Other faiths are no less guilty in many of these areas.
The point is this. God knows the customers in this case better than any one. So we should trust His Word and intentions BEFORE ANY others. And in our personal and business lives, look to find others needs, usually by being quick to listen, so we can better be the 'servant of all'.

Many may remember the 'day or hour will be unknown' and Jesus will come 'like a thief in the night', but is there ample warning for Christians or will they be surprised like everyone else where 'every knee shall bow'?
Here God warns us of dangers that we can fall into that will distract us from realizing His return is imminent. And this is NOT the complete list, it goes on.
There will be people misleading you over what God's Word says √ There will be people claiming to be Christ √ Wars and rumors of people going to war will be constant √ Famines and earthquakes will be more so than ever √
Yet, this is just the beginning.

Here is the recent headline: "Not in His name: God is gender-neutral, says archbishop of Canterbury". In other words, God is NOT the Father, he or him, in referring to Him is wrong and also for Jesus Christ.
For thousands of years, the Bible has stood, now because one man thinks differently it should be changed? God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit should not have masculine connotations? This, as more proof every month comes to show its accuracy, the most recent being science's confirmation of how Sodom and Gomorrah happened.
We have seen man's attempt to 'modernize' Scripture to man's thoughts and it has not worked. Here in Connecticut the Episcopal churches who took on a doctrine away from Scripture are losing members and closing the smaller churches while the conservative ones, grow.
The lesson? Stick to the Word of God as written. Man's word pales in it's strength. People in the end like structure and guidelines they can depend on. Tickling their ears does not work. God has and has a reason, even if we do not understand it.

Dear Pstr. Mike,
Jesus here, uses a tree to tell us about ourselves. "Do not look at the outward appearance or listen to the baloney (even our own) but watch what the person does" by doing so you will know where your (or the person's) heart is.
This is a hard lesson for some who have even convinced themselves how good they are. Many of them have lied so much to themselves, they are in denial.
A good Pastor will know his sheep and watch their fruits so he can tailor his sermons to promote growth. With each sermon, he will attempt to have members hold an imaginary Spiritual mirror in front of themselves to check their fruit.
God does not leave it there however. For all that is said about His Holy Spirit, He defines what people who have the Spirit (Christians) should be like.

Dear Michael,
Jesus here, uses a tree to tell us about ourselves. "Do not look at the outward appearance or listen to the baloney (even our own) but watch what the person does" by doing so you will know where your (or the person's) heart is.
This is a hard lesson for some who have even convinced themselves how good they are. Many of them have lied so much to themselves, they are in denial.
A good Pastor will know his sheep and watch their fruits so he can tailor his sermons to promote growth. With each sermon, he will attempt to have members hold an imaginary Spiritual mirror in front of themselves to check their fruit.
God does not leave it there however. For all that is said about His Holy Spirit, He defines what people who have the Spirit (Christians) should be like.

Dear Michael,
While our thankfulness in Jesus must grow, so must we, this Scripture says. But the long view goes deeper. It seems we must never stop growing until we rise up to heaven.
So, I invented a rap saying to match this. "If you're not growing, you're not going" to heaven that is.
It may be simple but it says it all for all Christians. You can never feel like 'you arrived'. You can never stop looking for ways to increase your faith. You can never stop serving others.

Dear Michael,
People my age will remember the age of the Hippies with their hallmark being Woodstock. They had a symbol also, it was a symbol of peace. While they were fractured in their understanding, God is not.
One of the cornerstones of Christianity, is the peace that rests in Christian's hearts and Spirits. Some have it instantly, others grow into it, and others only have it once in a while. We need to strive for 100%.
But how can that be? One of the keys, I believe is the last line of this Scripture, thankfulness.
IF you truly believe who Christ is, and have accepted Him in your heart. You realize, deeply, how many blessings He has brought you, yes, just like the Pilgrims did. And you know the troubles they had the first year.

Dear Michael,
I like to point out the story of Squantos the Christian Indian (<click here) that helped the Pilgrims survive. This year the links are even further back in Goggle to reach the Christian aspect of this story. My hope is that every head of household will review this story at Thanksgiving time with the family. They are gradually taking this out of our real history.
If it were not for Squantos and his converted faith, we may not be here. His story is really of God's providence.
First he was a slave. Captured from America and brought to Spain. Christian Friars purchased him in Spain and moved him to England. He learned Christianity and English there. This was NO COINCIDENCE as you will see. It was God's hand in his life.
Then he was able to come back to America. (A small miracle in itself in those days.) On his arrival back, he fond that his tribe was no longer existed as disease had wiped them out. So, he was taken in by another tribe who interacted with the Pilgrims. (Another God Incident) He became their connection. He taught them how to survive in this new land after their first year where so many died. He brought them together in peace. And they survived.
Will you endure a little discomfort to let everyone know about God in this Thanksgiving?

Is it just that mean old god in the sky that just makes rules for us OR is it that God that guides us because He loves us and wants the best for us? That is the reason he commands us to be thankful or to have gratitude?

* Opens the door to more and better relationships * Improves physical health * Improves psychological health * Enhances empathy and reduces aggression * Helps better sleep * Improves self esteem and * Increases mental strength

A Minister friend of mine believes that the hallmark of a real Christian are his joy and his gratitude. I concur.
You see, I believe that IF you are really converted to Christ, you are floored at all the blessings that He has provided for you. This brings that thankfulness and joy that is talked about.

Did you ever visit a church, some where else and feel a cold wave, a cold shoulder etc.? It should not be in God's kingdom.
You see the foundation of Christianity is to be built on love. Love adjusts to the needs of each individual. Since I am sensitive and also have visited many churches, I can feel from the people what they have been taught.
The best church I ever visited? It was an Assembly of God in Gloucester Mass. USA. From the moment that I went in people came up to me, greeted me, wanted to know me. It was not fake. Far too many people did it. They wanted me to feel at home.
Would I revisit that church? Certainly! Wouldn't you?
Now how about your church and you? Do strangers feel loved from the get go? What can you and the church do about it? Are you regularly taught about how important love is in Christianity? Can we increase our love?

Dear Erasto,
Many people, countries, alleged churches etc. turn their back on this Scripture. Then what happens? It is not good.
You see it is a simple Scripture with profound and deep results to the negative. You see WHEN a country, a person, a church begins to stumble, you will see, it is because they are losing their light. They are filling, instead of light, with darkness.
Take abortion for instance. No where in the Bible is it supported, in fact the opposite is true for those who care to examine the Word.
Take homosexuality for instance. The Bible clearly speaks against it.
Take divorce for instance. The Bible has great warnings against leaving that convenient. God says He hates it and leaves one and only one reason for it, adultery.
The list can go on. My urge to all is to keep light in your life and keep darkness out by getting better and better in God's Word as your life moves on.
