Dear Friends,
I believe Christianity says we are all equal at the base
of the cross. It is also designed to be like a family with each person contributing something special.
This page allows for nuggets from our friends to be displayed for others to see. A part of the growing community.
I encourage you to email me with your nuggets.

Subject: NEW SSA CHECKS

The Social Security check is now (or soon will be) referred to as a   "Federal Benefit Payment?"

I'll be part of the one percent to forward this.  I am forwarding it because it touches a nerve in me, and I hope it will in you.

Please keep passing it on until everyone in our country has read it.

The government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a "Federal Benefit Payment."   This isn't a benefit.  It is our money paid out of our earned income!  Not only did we all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too.  It totaled 15% of our income before taxes.

If you averaged $30K per year over your working life, that's close to $180,000 invested in Social Security.

If you calculate the future value of your monthly investment in social security ($375/month, including both you and your employers contributions) at a meager 1% interest rate compounded monthly, after 40 years of working you'd have more than $1.3+ million dollars !

This is your personal investment.  Upon retirement, if you took out only 3% per year, you'd receive $39,318 per year, or $3,277 per month.

That's almost three times more than today's average Social Security benefit of $1,230 per month, according to the Social Security Administration. (Google it – it’s a fact).

And your retirement fund would last more than 33 years (until you're 98 if you retire at age 65)! I can only imagine how much better most average-income people could live in retirement if our government had just invested our money in low-risk interest-earning accounts.

Instead, the folks in Washington pulled off a bigger "Ponzi scheme" than Bernie Madoff ever did.

They took our money and used it elsewhere. They forgot (oh yes, they knew) that it was OUR money they were taking.  They didn't have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to them.  And they didn't pay interest on the debt they assumed.  And recently they've told us that the money won't support us for very much longer.  (Isn't it funny that they NEVER say this about welfare payments?)

But is it our fault they misused our investments?  And now, to add insult to injury, they're calling it a "benefit", as if we never worked to earn every penny of it.

Just because they borrowed the money doesn't mean that our investments were a charity!

Let's take a stand.  We have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare.  Demand that our legislators bring some sense into our government.

Find a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going for the sake of that 92% of our population who need it.

Then call it what it is: Our Earned Retirement Income.

99% of people won't forward this.  Will you?

You can bet I WILL!!!

Subject: d: One More Credit Card Scam

Beware of people bearing gifts.
The following is a recounting of the incident from the victim:

Wednesday a week ago, I had a phone call from someone saying that he was
from some outfit called: "Express Couriers,"(The name could be any courier
company) He asked if I was going to be home because there was a package for
me that required a signature .

The caller said that the delivery would arrive at my home in roughly an
hour. Sure enough, about an hour later, a uniformed delivery man turned up
with a beautiful basket of flowers and a bottle of wine. I was very
surprised since there was no special occasion or holiday, and I certainly
didn't expect anything like it. Intrigued, I inquired as to who the sender
was.
The courier replied, "I don't know, I'm only delivering the package."
Apparently, a card was being sent separately... (the card has never
arrived!) There was also a consignment note with the gift.

He then went on to explain that because the gift contained alcohol, there
was a $3.50 "delivery/ verification charge," providing proof that he had
actually delivered the package to an adult (of legal drinking age), and not
just left it on the doorstep where it could be stolen or taken by anyone,
especially a minor.

This sounded logical and I offered to pay him cash. He then said that the
delivery company required payment to be by credit or debit card only, so
that everything is properly accounted for, and this would help in keeping a
legal record of the transaction.
He added couriers don't carry cash to avoid loss or likely targets for
robbery.

My husband, who by this time was standing beside me, pulled out his credit
card, and 'John,' the "delivery man," asked him to swipe the card on a small
mobile card machine with a small screen and keypad. Frank, my husband, was
asked to enter his PIN number and a receipt was printed out. He was given a
copy of the transaction. He guy said everything was in order, and wished us
good day.

To our horrible surprise, between Thursday and the following Monday, $4,000
had been charged/withdrawn from our credit/debit account at various ATM
machines.

Apparently the "mobile credit card machine," which the deliveryman carried
now had all the info necessary to create a "dummy" card with all our card
details including the PIN number.

Upon finding out about the illegal transactions on our card, we immediately
notified the bank which issued us a new card, and our credit/debit account
was closed.

We also personally went to the Police, where it was confirmed that it is
definitely a scam because several households had been similarly hit.

WARNING: Be wary of accepting any "surprise gift or package," which you
neither expected nor personally ordered, especially if it involves any kind
of payment as a condition of receiving the gift or package. Also, never
accept anything if you do not personally know or there is no proper
identification of who the sender is.

Above all, the only time you should give out any personal credit/debit card
information is when you yourself initiated the purchase or transaction!

WARNING FROM POLICE
THIS APPLIES TO BOTH WOMEN AND MEN
BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE--NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKINGS  (NOT A JOKE)  Heads up everyone!

You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and shift into reverse.
When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear  window.

So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors, and jump  out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is)  that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of  your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere,  jump into your car and take off. They practically mow you  down as they speed off in your car.
And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the  car.So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys.Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.
If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away. Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this e-mail.
I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially  to women. A purse contains all kinds of personal information  and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want  it to fall into the wrong hands.

Please keep this
going and tell all your friends
