Fall Clean Ups
Fall Clean Ups come in two varieties:
• Lawn Customer
• Non-Lawn Customer
While the leaves may look so nice on the trees and ground, they are not good for the lawn at this time. The final growth can be impaired and fungus and bacterial diseases can develop under them in the lawn. The leaves can smother further growth and health, the level of acidity can rise on your lawn (grass can only tolerate so much acidic soil), and extra thatch can build up to inhibit Spring lawn growth.
For our regular customers, we automatically add bagging once the leaves begin to cover the ground. A picture of bagging equipment is provided at left. During a normal mowing, the machine vacuums up leaves, clippings and twigs, cuts them into finer pieces and shoots them into the 3 bags on the back of the mower. We empty them at appropriate places on your property, or for an extra charge, can cart them away. You get a better service, a better looking lawn, and a healthier lawn, usually for less. In most years, the extra cost of bagging is usually offset by what a Fall Clean Up would have cost.  The Clean Up expense is also spread out over a greater amount of time. Yet, you get the benefit of a much healthier and better fed lawn PLUS great looks at the time. If you have an excessive amount of leaves on your lawn, we may choose to blow them. Either way we use the less costly and most efficient (cheapest) method for your lawn.
At this time of the year you can also add fertilization, core aeration and over seeding. What a great preparation for Winter and  Spring of next year!
What is that item in the picture? It is a leaf plow. It can push leaves as high as itself into piles. When I first bought it my wife said "What a waste of money. What will that ever be good for?" However after the first big job, she had nothing but praise for it. It's not her fault, most of our competitors do not have one, and the ones that do, have no system in place for using one!  So she had never seen one work before! You see when you have a system, and the right equipment there is savings for you and it is also easier on the workers.
This leaf plow, however would be of little use if we did not have the right commercial equipment to power it. Once again ask your services for a description of their equipment.  Is it commercial equipment? Is there enough of a variety for the work you need done to be done right and in a timely manner?
When we do Fall Clean Ups for non-regular customers, our system goes like this:
• Branches and other heavy debris is cleaned up by hand
• Gardens, Mulch Beds, Street Curbs, Decks, Drives and Sidewalks are blown off.
• Your lawn is blown off with Back Pack and Walk Behind Blowers.
• If needed they are assisted with the leaf plow in a systematic line.
• Finally, if needed your lawn is final (close) mowed, and bagged.

This efficient system, leaves your lawn the best for winters worst and your yard looking great!  CAUTION many people call us too late. TOO LATE is when the frost starts, leaves stick to the ground, or your grass is so long that leaves stick in with the tall grass.
